The Sandpiper Hotel and Coral Reef Club are sister hotels located on
a beautiful beach near Holetown on the west side of Barbados. Both
hotels have prime beachside locations between the Westmoreland Golf Club
and Sandy Land Golf Club.
The Sandpiper features 45 well appointed rooms and suites which can combine into one and two bedroom accommodations, some with full kitchens which are popular with vacationing families. The open-sided restaurant, lounge, and bar are the centerpiece of the resort and guests will find menus full of scrumptious selections for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, all perfectly prepared. Our ground level room was in the "garden bridge" area adjoining a 1-bedroom suite with a kitchen and could have easily become the 2nd bedroom for large families. We had a king bed, sitting area, spacious bathroom, and covered patio overlooking lush flowering gardens dotted with towering palms and two pretty foot-bridges. Suites have spacious living rooms, adjoining bedrooms, full bathrooms, and a large terrace or balcony. We noticed that many guests ordered room service breakfast and were dining on their outdoor patios. I wandered down to the pool area for early morning coffee and discovered
a group of cute kids enthusiastically taking swimming lessons. One
mum told me that they were from the U.K. and since the water was so cold
in England, this gave her children a chance to learn to swim in warm water.
She and her family had been coming to The Sandpiper for years, since she
was a child, so she thought it was the perfect place to bring her own children.
The wide, long beach had lots of guests relaxing, sun bathing, and engaging in all kinds of water sports. A large protected swimming area is marked with buoys. At the end of the beach, a catamaran docked for some to board for a day sail - how convenient to simply step on the boat and sail away for a day of exploring and snorkeling. A scuba dive shop is nearby for avid underwater explorers and the resort staff will be glad to arrange a day of diving. The resort has tennis courts, windsurfers, small sailboats, beach umbrellas, and lounge chairs for guests. A hotel bus provides transportation to Bridgetown for shopping and taxis can be arranged for airport departures - 18 miles and a 45 minute ride away. The Sandpiper provides a perfect destination for those seeking a beautiful
beach and gorgeous tropical gardens surrounding an upscale hotel with lovely
accommodations, excellent cuisine, and an endless array of activities.
